Jahi was born and raised in Denver, CO. Growing up in Denver he played soccer and ski raced at a competitive level, which led to receiving a full scholarship to attend Burke Mountain Academy (the highest performing alpine boarding school in the U.S.). There he would earn top-5 rankings in two events nationally in alpine skiing, win Junior Nationals in Giant Slalom and play for a two-time state champion soccer team. After high school, Jahi raced on the U.S. Development Alpine Ski Team for two years before attending college in Vermont. Jahi played soccer and skied in college before breaking his back in two places, ending his athletic career.
“I was inactive for nearly ten years partially because of back restrictions, and the shock of having to redefine my life as someone other than an athlete. Twelve years after surgery, my now wife introduced me to CrossFit. I watched a hero WOD with a box full of incredible athletes pushing their limits. I was so intimidated that I didn’t come back to LCF for a year… until, I gave in to Christian’s peer pressure. My first WOD was 12 Days of Christmas, scaled. After the WOD an LCF coach at the time inquired about my injury. She came to the conclusion that I was simply copping out. I returned the next day and 7 consecutive days after that. HOOKED! I found a community that helped me reinvent myself from the inside out.”
